Remembering Rev. Peter Gomes

I have seen and heard the Rev. Peter Gomes preach  - and as most people who've done so will tell you, it was a tremendous experience.  He was a towering orator - his style and diction honed to perfection.  More importantly, he was a good teacher when it came to his sermons - he showed you the ins and outs of your sins - but he also told you that God forgives.  And, his most powerful lesson for me: that the altar is God's table, and everyone is welcome. I remember so clearly the morning I heard him say that, and what a healing thing it was for me, something I didn't realize I'd been deeply longing to hear, until he said it.  Thank you God for the blessings I got listening to Peter Gomes.
