Sock Monkey

I've long been an admirer of sock monkeys, they always seem to have a certain indomintable elan.   Today with a pair of socks from Target, and a good YouTube video by the easy diy - voila, my first sock monkey:

No name yet - but he's already making me feel good, and he looks pretty happy about things himself.

Here he is, working on beaming his Monkey Rays (waves of strength, hopefullness and love).

The Milo Vest

Just before a recent business trip I found at the last minute that I was missing one essential item:  some good knitting to take with me.  I had the pattern - a real sweetheart of a pattern:  The Milo Vest - see it on Ravlery - but needed some great yarn.  So off to Stitch House - 846 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, MA http://www.stitchhousedorchester.com/ - if you haven't visited yet,  it is an easy ride from Malden and is a great shop.  They have a mix of mid range-higher priced yarns - and best of all:  a sale basket!!  That's where I found three skeins of gorgeous wool: freedom spirit by Twilleys of Stamford, England - a great pleasure to knit with and the finished product was lovely...but see for yourself as my granddaughter A models hers.

Beach Day

Yesterday was a beautiful day at Cranes Beach in Ipswich, MA, and a beach day was just what I needed.  The rough voice of the waves over and over, the "cradle endlessly rocking" that makes peace of mind possible again.

Welcome to Monkey Rays

Welcome to Monkey Rays - my place to share things I've made, and the people, life, and things I love.

First up is a Harry Potter doll I made for my grandson, Aidan for Christmas.  I used a pattern from Heidi Kenney of My Paper Crane. The pattern was well written and came together easily - thanks so much Heidi for sharing it!!
